School Travel Plan

A School Travel Plan (STP) is a document produced by the whole school community. It looks at how students, parents and staff travel to and from school, raising issues of concern and ideas on how to improve matters.

The overall aim of having a STP is to encourage a reduction in car use on the roads around the school.

Bishop Ridley was one of the schools in Bexley taking up this initiative; we devised our STP in 2009 and have updated it when necessary. In 2011 we achieved the Bronze Award for Sustainable Travel. This  enabled us to apply for funding for a cycle shelter for our pupils.

Encouraging less vehicle activity around our school and more walking/cycling is a major target of our STP as we hope this will improve the health and safety of our pupils, especially as we hold a Healthy Schools Award.
