Welcome to SCIENCE WEEK.
Every year the children of Bishop Ridley participate in science week. Past themes have included light & sound, flight & forces. This years theme was 'recycling'. We had a visit from Bexley's SWAC (school waste action club) team and the lower school enjoyed 'The Big Green Show'. Children enjoyed many activities throughout the week which included making moving monsters reusing cardboard packaging, making a wormery, designing 'reduce, recyle and reuse' posters, creating a new style recycle bin, as well as considering how they can help their own environment by 'REDUCING, REUSING and RECYLING'.

Joe M said "We made our own posters. These are all about recyling glass, paper an metal'.
"If you recycle a tin can it could power a TV for up to three hours" said Cade.
Beth says "We must all put food in the brown bin for compost and not the normal bin".
"Recycle glass; it can be used forever. In Bexley glass goes in the black recycling bin" says Dean.
Here are some recounts of science week:
"Science week was really good. There were lots of great activities going on. There were people coming in telling us about recycling. We all enjoyed the week. People showed us in assembly that they had made moving monsters from recycled materials and a lady came in and made bird feeders and insect homes out of recyled materials. Everyone enjoyed science week" By Ryan Holczimmer 4/5M
"During science week we thought about wind turbines. Wind turbines are used to generate renewable energy which is good for the environment. We made our own and tried them out" By Daniel.
