Harvest Once again there was a splendid contribution to this year's service held in Bishop Ridley Church. Many thanks to everyone who donated food. The collection was taken to the Women's Refuge in Marylebone where we know it has been put to good use.

PE and Swimming Kits: Please ensure that your child comes to school properly equipped. We regulary have children without the necessary PE or swimming kits and this means the children are missing important lessons.

Parking in Northumberland Ave: We have had a complaint from residents in Northumberland Avenue that some parents are parking across their drives when dropping off children. I would remind parents to only park in designated areas and show consideration to local residents.

Key Stage 2 SATS 2009
The national tests in English, Maths and Science for our current year 6 will be held from 11th  to 15th May 2009. Parents of year 6 pupils should not book holidays during this week. We also have tests for years 3,4 and 5 during this same week and it would be appreciated if parents did not take their children out of school at this time.

Friday Achievement Assemblies
Every Friday at 10.15am we hold an assembly at which classes show a selection of good work and when children receive certificates and other rewards. Parents and relatives are invited to these assemblies. The rota for this term is as follows:

12th September    2/3H                           7th November        6T
19th September    4/5T                         14th November        2/3I
26th September    6S                            21st November        2/3T
3rd October           Jupiter                     28th November       4/5S
10th October         Nursery                      5th December       Mercury
17th October         4/5M
24th October         Neptune

Please note that although it may the turn of your child's class to show work not every child in the class may be participating. The assembly starts at 10.15am promptly; noisy toddlers should be taken out to minimize disturbance. If any changes are made to the rota a notice will be put in the window at the front of the school. We look forward to seeing you there.

Staff Car Park:  Mr. Hall would like to remind parents that they should not drive onto the premises at any time, unless in exceptional circumstances. The staff car park is reserved for members of staff only.

Safety of Children: I would to remind parents that except in real emergencies (e.g. collecting an injured or sick child) you should not drive onto the premises to drop off or collect children. There have recently been some very near misses and the last thing we want is for a child to get hurt. Please note that this also applies to parents collecting children from the Nursery.

PE/Games Kits: Just a reminder that all children (except Nursery) need an outdoor games kit, which in the colder weather can include a track suit (not coats!). They need to make sure they have them in school on the right day; several children regularly ‘forget’ their kit and this proves disruptive and deprives them of access to the full curriculum.

Adverse weather conditions: In the event of severe weather you should tune into Time FM on 106.8FM for information about school closures. If you hear no reference to Bishop Ridley Primary School then assume that we are open. A decision to close the school would normally be made on health and safety grounds (e.g. if the heating has failed or access is blocked) or if staff are unable to get in and classes are left without a teacher.
